Chad Johnson was recently at Craig Lake State Park in the Champion/Michigamme area and captured some photos while kayaking around Craig Lake there with a number of friends. This was their way of celebrating someone’s birthday in the group and honestly, I can’t think of a better way to spend a sunny day, than kayaking on a peaceful lake in the most remote Michigan State Park. Located in Baraga County, this State Park consists of 8,400 acres with six lakes and a number of small ponds. There are two cabins that you can rent, along with a Yurt about a two mile hike from the parking area. Craig Lake, which Chad and his fellow adventurers kayaked is 374 acres, with six islands and beautiful granite bluffs along the northern shoreline. Access is rugged with rocky road conditions, so vehicles with high-ground clearance and four-wheel drive are recommended for this wilderness experience.
MI Playground is at it again, this time Nick and Andy are paddling in the Keweenaw Peninsula, starting in Copper Harbor, they then head to Lake Medora, which reminds me of Craig Lake where Chad and the gang kayaked. Next is a paddle around Eagle Harbor Lighthouse and they end their paddling journey on the Keweenaw Waterway where they paddle under the Portage Lake Lift Bridge and around the Upper Entry Light near McLain State Park, all in near perfect paddling conditions.
