Today’s snowshoe adventurers are Mandy Cadwell and a group of her friends, who made the trek along Lake Superior’s shoreline between Freda and Redridge to check out the mile or so of ice cliffs that form on the sandstone cliffs. The curtains of ice are nothing short of breathtaking, with the height and sheer drop down to the water level. What fascinates me the most, is the color that come from staining in the ice, while most of them are just white colored ice, the bluish and reddish tints like in the bottom photo, along with the blue sky make for a phenomenal scene.
Gypsytrekker has a video of the Redridge cliffs from a few years back. If you turn your speakers up, you can hear the water tinkling through the ice. The ice cliff portion of her video ends at minute 3:28, where she then reviews the snowshoes she’s wearing.

Love it all. Thanks for sharing. And I hope she gets some boots that work with the snowshoes, or vice versa.
