There’s a saying I’ve been seeing lately...’If you choose not to find the joy in snow, you will have less joy in your life but still the same amount of snow.’ Today’s photos from Beth Jukuri are a good example of this saying. Beth said she wasn’t going to push out after work recently- but was so glad she did. She was in awe of the sunset as she said it kept growing brighter. An hour on her Hok skis. For those that are not familiar with Hok Skiing, here’s an explanation from the web: Hok skiing is similar to snowshoeing, but it is easier and takes less energy as the hok skis (also known as ski-shoes) are designed for sliding, so you do not need to pick your feet up. It basically involves hybrid skis instead of traditional skis that were invented by Asian hunters long ago as a means to enjoying winter more conveniently.

So there you have it...Beth was tired after delivering all the added Christmas mail this time of year and really didn’t feel like getting out there for a ski, but she did anyway, finding joy in the snow and sunset that day.

Our video from Remote Workforce Keweenaw takes us to Swedetown to do some skiing. I wonder if you go there with the Hok skis if you’d use the cross country trails or the snowshoe trails. Hmm...

I love the pictures and I appreciate the video, but
battling vertigo, I could not watch all of it.
I love the third picture.

Hay New Year to one and all.

Beautiful pictures. I think I like the 4th
one the best. I like the indents in the snow
from her skis. Something about it draws me
in. I actually thought about doing something
like that but my arm strength will have to
be built up first. Got a start on that
today, cleaning the snow off of both decks.
It felt good to be out there though. It
wasn't cold or windy, just fluffy snow
coming down. It was a very nice day out
there enjoying what the yoop had to offer.

Thanks for the nice outing and the education! Had never heard of Hok skis but that looks like a great option to our snowshoes. My favorite shot is the first one - with the tops of the trees all golden. Have always found that to be so appealing at both sunrise and sunset.

Happy New Year Pasty friends!

Excellent pix...thanks for the trek! The video was
a bit to fast-forwardy...like someone had to go
real bad.
