George C. Bailey shares the “icing on the cake”, so to speak, here today. Lake Superior has been busy ‘frosting’ the shoreline near his home, although it seems like she’s a little behind schedule, as most years there are much more coatings on the rocks and the shoreline is encrusted with thicker ice by the end of December. But that’s part of the beauty of the Big Lake as she is different all the time. George snapped these shots on Christmas Day with the clouds, the sky and the sunshine making for serene scenes as a gift from nature.
To complete the gift, E. Neil Harri shares a video from his Eagle Harbor deck, with the waves rolling in on Christmas Day, also. He said it was a little cool to sit very long! Again, make sure your speakers are turned up to hear the wave sounds while you sit with Neil for a bit.

Beautiful pictures. But don't let those blue skies fool you. Sometimes it's much warmer with cloud cover and snow coming down.
"Crisp" pix and video...nicely done!

Beautiful shots of Superior - without all the ice so far!
If Dr. Nat and Capt Paul are checking in, i'd be interested in their insights into the story about the 'mystery' mineral in the Adventure Mine's newly dewatered third level.

My first thought is some sort of secondary copper mineral. I'm sure it will be analyzed at some point.
