Winter white makes the landscape bright and cleaner looking. Debbie Jarve, from Debbie Jarve Photography has some great examples of just that, with winter scenes here today. She starts us out with a beautiful shot of the church in Phoenix, the historical Church of the Assumption. Always photogenic, but with the snow surrounding it, she stands out even more.

Then Debbie brings us a snow covered bunch of trees, all nestled together and coated in winter. I don’t care how many times this happens after a storm, the snow clinging to the branches is always a breathtaking sight.

Last but not least is a Lake Superior shot, with the big waves rolling in and having already splashed up on the shoreline covering the branches with icicles from the fast freezing splash of the waves. It’s another way that nature turns bright and beautiful in the midst of a winter storm.

For anyone planning a visit or a move to the U.P., Alexis Dahl, who moved UP North from Metro Detroit a year ago, shares four lessons she has learned from her first year living here. She covers flies, winter, maps and wonder, check it out.

Sure did like the video. How true she is. I use to
spray a washcloth with bug spray and tie it around
my ankle or tuck it between my shoelaces. When we
use to travel and stay at motels by the water, I
would spray the door frame with bug spray. It was
the inside, if you will, of the door frame. Worked
pretty good. Then was nothing worse than trying to
sleep with a bug flying around your head. :O)

I love that church.

Nice winter pix! We've seen very little snow down
here in S.E. MI, which is fine with me. I've used
up just about all of my 9 lives. One or two more
and I'll need to bum a kitty.

The picture of the church in Phoenix would
make a beautiful Christmas card. And those
waves are amazing. I never tire of pictures
of the lake, especially when the waves are
just rolling in like that. All of the snow I
can do without. But I guess I'm in it for
the long haul so I may as well get used to
it. Have a wonderful day, everybody.
