The trees at Calumet Waterworks Park (a.k.a. Bucky’s) showed off their brilliant colors a bit later than the rest of the Keweenaw. Judy Byykkonen was up there this past week and snapped these shots of them still adorned in beauty. I know I said this earlier in a post, but I do not recall the leaves hanging on as long as they did this fall. I’m sure it had to do with the unseasonably warmer and sunny days than we normally get in October, too. And for some reason, scientific, I’m sure, the trees around Lake Superior change last. So, that helps to make Autumn last longer, as you can drive a short distance and still see some color after the inland leaves have fallen.

Debbie Jarve was at Bucky’s recently, also and shares this wavy, windy day at the Park. Turn up the volume to get the full effect.

Ahhh, Bucky's . . . glad to know that it's still locally known as such. Sure spent many a pleasant summer evening there, many years ago.

Beautiful! We were out and about yesterday
and I told the hubby that I don't remember
ever seeing so many trees full of leaves
this late in the year. We assume it's the
extremely warm year we've had. The weather
guy was saying that there'll more than
likely be a lot of lake effect snow this
year with Lake Superior being so warm. I
guess that's the price we have to pay for it
being so warm. Fair trade I say.
Have a great weekend.

Anybody know what's being built on MTU's lift bridge
web cam??

Went for a spin yesterday too...it is amazing at
the color still out there.

no RV attached.

It is indeed a great place to take in The Lake. There were several people there when we all were treated to a great sunset.

I took the "back way" to return to Houghton after dark and certainly would have been terribly lost without GPS.

Hey Langoman, I think that's the parking deck in the edge of the MTU Bridgecam view. There has been talk lately of disassembling the deck. If you watch the time lapse of Nov 2, there may be some clues:

Think you Charlie for taking time from your busy
schedule to respond. FJL.
