Judy Byykkonen was out in the morning walking her dog, but had no camera with her, so as soon as she brought the dog back home, she grabbed her camera and headed back, hoping the trees would still be iced. She was in luck, as you can see from her photos. She snapped these near the Swedetown Pond in Calumet. What a great scene with the Osceola Mine Shafthouse standing tall over the trees.
Winter here in the Copper Country may be cold and long, but if you’re able to get outdoors and enjoy the beauty that comes along with the cold, you’ll be richly rewarded with sights such as Judy captured. The bonus is better health both in mind and body for getting outdoors and moving around.
We’re about to enjoy the January video from Five Acres Media. It shows a typical January when lakes are frozen and ice is forming on Lake Superior.

Very nice set and video! Do I see a pulsating star at minute 3:47?
