When Benji Hainault and is family headed out to the school forest in Lake Linden to do some snowshoeing, they had no idea they’d be adventuring in what looked like Narnia (the kids said) minus the lamp post. Now I admit that I haven’t read any of the Chronicles of Narnia book series, so I’m not quite sure what the kids were talking about. All I know is if these pictures reminded them of Narnia, it must be beautiful there and quiet. Benji said it was so quiet in the woods there. I can’t get over the fluffy snow on the trees in all sorts of shapes and sizes. It truly makes the woods a magical place, Narnia or the Keweenaw... absolutely magical.

After that snowshoe through the woods, were going to take a ride with Jeff Dennis, from Lake Linden to Little Traverse Bay on Christmas Day. Bundle up, put your helmet on and let’s go!

Happy New Year, everyone! Let’s hope for a better year in 2021!

Happy New Year to all in the pasty.com family. Hopefully 2021 will see our return to "normal" living and "normal" activities. Goodbye the train wreck / dumpster fire that was 2020! Adios! Stay well everyone!

Happy New Year everyone! Have a great day and a better 2021. I never want to see the number "2020" again unless it's on a tax return and even then I will firmly and emphatically protest.

Alex,

It beats the 20/400 or 20/600 I hear every year at the ophthalmologist. I still hear 20/20 after I get the new prescription though and I'm very thankful for that.

After the gift of the almost 1 inch ice storm that Christmas brought to us this week I am fondly thinking of the winters past in the U.P., when it got cold and mostly stayed cold. The packed snow crunching beneath my feet in the deep cold is very cool, especially late at night walking all alone. All that light fluffy stuff seemed enjoyable even when it got ever so deep it was still more tolerable than the winters here in northern Illinois. We almost never get a lot of snow but the worst part is when it heats and cools back and forth across the freezing point. Muddy slush then deep rooted tire tracks only make things more miserable when added to the biting, piercing cold that high humidity winds seem to amplify far beyond the actual temperature.

OK, OK none of that even measures up to terrors of 2020 so....
HAPPY NEW YEAR. Bring it on. We can endure whatever gets thrown.
