Plenty of action on Lake Superior lately, as the freighters are hustling to get to ports to load and transport goods, before the annual shutdown of the Soo Locks in January. Danielle Adams was at the Ore Dock in Marquette Harbor to photograph the Michipicoten as it was heading out of the Harbor after being loaded, when she spotted the Hon. James L Oberstar coming into the Harbor. She knew she was going to have a great opportunity to capture both freighters in the same shot and that’s just what she did. Then she snapped a nice shot of the Oberstar as it was getting ready to head to the Ore Dock for its turn.
George C. Bailey had a great seat for watching another freighter, the Radcliffe R. Latimer, less than a mile out as it skirted their Lake Superior shoreline, near Copper Harbor. Not unheard of to be this close, but normally the big boats are much further out than this, so it was a treat to see. Thankful that we get to share in it, too!

Didn't even have to reach the bottom to know who took/posted these pics. Two ships at once; that's a feat!! ;-)

Ever since childhood, I've always loved the "Lakers". It never gets old.
Looking back at Charlie's remembrance of the Cliff Bar yesterday, I'm pretty sure that "back in the day" I resembled one of those "gents".
