Well, it looks (and feels) like I got my wish. I said back in October when we were having all the early snowfall, that I was holding out for some warmer temperatures yet to come. And sure enough, this past week, we had unseasonably warm temperatures in the upper 60’s and into the 70’s. It has been absolutely beautiful.

Jeff Dennis and his family took advantage of the nice weather, loaded up their paddle boat and headed to Big Traverse to paddle up and down the river. The water was smooth as glass and made some beautiful reflections, too. Of course, Fritz came along for the ride, too, I don’t think he did any peddling, but make sure you watch the video of the adventure right to the end, so you can see and hear his contribution to the outing. I bet he was just “chatting” with the dog on the dock, probably about the weather and what a great cruise he was on. Fritz is a lucky dog to get to go on so many fun adventures.

Mary, we are thankful for your wish! Such beautiful weather to get the house buttoned down for the Winter and enjoy the last of the changing leaves. And then there's the lower heating bills....

A perfect set after a perfect weekend! The weather was magnificent, the election is over (thank God) and we now have a new President.

Thinking of the Fitz today - hard to imagine it has been 45 years since she sank. RIP all the crew and prayers for their families.

Me too, Jbuck and countless others. Cannot believe it's been 45 years. Will never forget hearing about the sinking on the radio news as I had my morning coffee. Some things stay etched in your mind forever. My last duty station in the Coast Guard was at Base Soo, right below the locks, before my discharge in 1973. Sure saw the Fitz sail up and down the St Marys many times. God Bless that good ship and crew, and the families, some of them young children who never got to know their fathers.
