Here we are with Beth Jukuri again today, but instead of her “office” view on the mail route, we’re joining her and some friends kayaking on the Portage Canal in the evening hours as the sun begins to set. What a great perspective of the Portage Lake Lift Bridge from water level like that. I can imagine how neat it was to kayak underneath the bridge and really get a good look at all that goes on there below.

What really caught my eye in Beth’s photos, though was the water. Especially in the second photo, the sun reflecting on the surface made it look like there were many small mirrors, shining in the ripples and the effect is pretty mesmerizing for me. It’s great that her photos captured that so well, the angle was just right for a unique water scene.

Beth’s last photo was just about as their kayaking adventure was coming to a close, with the sun slowly setting as they headed back to reality and their vehicles. What a peaceful way to end a day!

Our video feature today, comes to us from Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula. It was a beautiful early afternoon at the Houghton Bridgeview Park. Chilly, in the high 40’s, but with sun, blue skies and a view of the Portage Canal and the Lift Bridge. Oh yes, and Trenary Toast and coffee, too! Again, it doesn’t get much better than this!

Missed your post yesterday - the kayak pictures are great! A good way to social distance and enjoy the beauty of the CC.

I Love kayaking but I get so wet because I'm
not very good at it lol. But it's been so hot
that I don't mind getting wet. It feels pretty
good and it's so serene our there paddling,
watching the loons. We've seen them fighting
the eagles away from their babies. It's fun to
watch. Of course, we don't have anything as
grand as the Portage lift bridge to paddle
under. I would love that.
