E. Neil Harri does it for us again, taking flight over places we wouldn’t otherwise be able to see in the winter months. Neil flew up to the tip of the Keweenaw and across the just about three mile strip of water to snap a couple photos of the Lighthouses on Manitou Island. First is Gull Rock Lighthouse, which is located about a half mile off the western end of the Island and closest to the tip of the Keweenaw. It was built in 1867 and still functions as an unattended navigational aid. The second photo is the Manitou Lighthouse on the eastern end of the Island. Built in 1849, it is also still in use as a navigational aid, although it is unmanned and solar powered.

The video today gives us a quick glimpse of Gull Rock Lighthouse, from the Keweenaw tip, as we ride along with a group of “Backroad Travelers”.

On one of our snowmobile vacations we snowmobiled the Keweenaw Tip to see the Gull Rock Lighthouse. That was a ride.

Yes, UC, rooting on the Huskies now! NMU dragged out the game as long as we could and just didn't bring home the win.
