On their way here, Paul and Nathalie Brandes (Capt. Paul and Dr. Nat), came through lower Michigan and spent the night in Sault Ste. Marie. They stayed at a hotel with a view of the locks, which meant a view of the freighters passing through. The first one is the Roger Blough (858 footer) and the second one is the American Century (1000 footer). Talk about a Boat Nerds paradise, just sitting there on your hotel porch with a front row seat to these Big Boats sailing by in front of you.

The video today is freighter related and comes from “Storm Warrier” Great Lakes Sailor, Keith Baker, who sails on the Cason J. Callaway. He posted this saying they were dropping the hook off Port inland, while waiting to load. Pretty impressive with the sound and all.
