The February 24th - 25th blizzard of 2019 is in the history books now, but it will be one that is remembered for quite some time. We have a recap today with photos from a week ago, to show you just how bad the country roads were. The three photos were taken on the road I live on in Lake Linden, with the first one on Monday, showing the drift blocking our access to get to town. That drift is about 8 feet high there in the middle of the road and packed hard. The next photo was taken Tuesday afternoon, when the county plow finally made it to open our road and promptly got stuck, just past our house. Never fear, though, a short time later the county snowblower showed up. You can see it coming from the opposite way, blowing the road as it comes our way. It went right around the stuck plow and pulled them out, so they could continue to open the rest of our road and go on to others.
A big thank you to these county workers that risk their own lives during storms and spend long hours getting roads opened up again.
Today’s video journey takes us to Chippewa County, where Brenda Leigh was recording the plows as they were clearing the roads in the Brimley area during the storm. First one plow, followed by another making the road wider still. Check out the visibility...not very good, but they get the job done.

The road crews out in those conditions deserve so much appreciation and praise. Getting a road open like that is no doubt nerve wracking and tedious! What would we do without those guys (and maybe gals)?
Thanks for the great pictures Mary and Brenda!

Not knowing where that road is....where is it? I know of one place in Lake Linden where you live, but, where is this road?
Is that the road people take from Lake Linden to Calumet? :O)

Mickill mouse... No, it's not M26 from Lake Linden to Calumet, commonly called the Calumet Hill/Lake Linden Hill, depending which end of it you live on. It's our country road, about 4 miles out of Lake Linden. Sorry, I'm not giving out the exact location.

Alex... We definitely were land locked, but we just treat it like an adventure when that happens. The only time it becomes less of an adventure is when we lose power, which means brrrr...and no water when you rely on an electric pump in your well.
