Friday - January 17
10 - 2pm - Session One: Finnish Cooking Course, Layer Cake Decorating, Zion Lutheran Church; Hancock. Pre-registration required - 15 students maximum.$13.00 fee. (906) 482-0248

1 pm - Heikinpäivä Hilhto Ski Race, 22 Km & 5 Km freestyle/2 Km & 1 Km Youth races; The race location has been changed to the Michigan Tech ski trails in Houghton. All times remain the same. 487-5424.

9 am - until finished - Birch Bark Bread Basket Weaving class - Community Arts Center. Pre-registration required (482-2333) 12 students maximum

3:00 pm - Polar Bear Dive, Hancock waterfront by the Ramada Inn. Win a collector Heikinpäivä medal and other prizes.

Friday - Evening
7-11 pm - Wilho Kilpelä & Friends Dance South Range Community Center. Live music, dancing and performers. Admission $5. Sponsored by the South Range Centennial Committee. Call Etc.Etc. 906-482-9171 for info.

4:00 pm - Heikin Kokko/Christmas Tree Bonfire, Hancock waterfront. Ceremony lasts 15 minutes. Be on time or you'll miss it.

6:00 -8:30 pm - Club Finndigo - Calumet Theater, Calumet - Club Indigo dinner/movie $9.50. Movie only: suggested $3.50 donation. Film - "Leningrad Cowboys" - Advance reservations required for the dinner at 6 pm. Finnish Movie at 7:15 pm. Call the Calumet Theater.337-2610

10-3 pm - Continuous Finnish videos offering a variety of films. Finnish American Heritage Center. Upstairs, above the Tori Market. Details

Parade, downtown Hancock...line up at the Hancock Hardware at 11.Sign up with Parade Marshals to participate. Cash prizes.
6 pm - Seisovapöytä / Finnish buffet, $17.00 each. Finlandia Hall, Finlandia Univ. (Reserve tickets required). Deadline for tickets Wednesday, January 15.Tickets available at the Community Arts Center (906)482-2333, Hancock City Hall or online www.pasty.com/winter2003.
Dinner includes dance.

8 pm -
Tanssit / Dance - Featuring Finn Hall Keskilännen Pelimannit; Finlandia Hall, Finlandia University immediately following the buffet. Tickets $5 for just the dance.

10:30 am - Gloria Dei Lutheran Church - Hancock, Finnish theme church service conducted in English.
