The Adventure was an old Ontonagon County mine, originally started in 1850.
The present company was formed in 1898 and was working a total of 7 different lodes through 4 shafts. A stamp mill was built at Edgemere, along Lake Superior.
The management team of the Quincy now had control, and by 1905 the company was slowly getting on solid ground.
The photos are from "The History of Ontonagon County Towns" by Knox Jamison, originally published 1969. This book is a collection of earlier volumes and is an excellent resource for the history of Ontonagon County.
You can tour the Adventure Mine today, near Greenland, in Ontonagon County, and also check out the Caledonia Mine while you are in the area.
