The Conglomerate was organized from the remnants of the Delaware, Pennsylvania, Northwest, Mendota, New Jersey, Maryland and Wyoming companies and controlled over 20,000 acres around Lac La Belle. At its peak, it employed over 500 men.
You can tour one of the original shafts today by visiting the Delaware Mine on US 41 in Keweenaw County.
