Reminds me of a song - - Did your true love give you a partridge in a pear tree today?
Donn de Yampert did a little window shopping in Houghton this week, and was fascinated by the lights and toyland at historic Haug's Jewelry and Collectibles. I see that Haug's has been a sponsor at Pasty Central for some time, too, so guess you could say they help keep the lights on at the Pasty Cam, too. www.upexperience.com

Toivo and Eino go hunting, and Toivo says, "Let's spilt up and if you get lost, just fire three shots in the air." Sure enough, Eino gets lost. He fires three shots in the air and thinks, "I sure hope Toivo sees my arrows."

Haugs Jewelry-My how times have changed. I bought my wife's engagement ring from Mr Haug in 1953 at which time it was strictly a jewelry store. At that time there was Nelson's Restaurant, Swifts Hardware, Kirkish Grocery, Wilcox Photo, to name a few and many fine clothing and other stores along the main drag. There are still some fine establishments but times have changed.

Toivo and Aino were people watching at the Copper Country Mall when along came a gal wearing a yellow jacket Toivo said I'll bet she's from Yellow Jacket. Soon ther came a gal in a Red Jacket and of course she was from Red Jacket Soon there appeared a gal in a blue jacket who was from Blue Jacket. The boys waited all day to see one from Bare Lake.

Luanne: Boy thats intersting, never thought about that. Times marchs on, and things change!!
By Julie Stevens Beck on Saturday, December 14, 2002 - 10:10 pm:
The eye Doctor was Frank Henderson and his wife Bernie was the clerk. I went to him for my first eye exam as a child and he sent me directly to Marquette to see an Optomotrist. Fortunately it was nothing more than just a bad astigmatism and darn good nearsightedness. Frank and Bernie were special people and especially friends of my Grandmother, Florence Stevens (mother of Jack Stevens picture on Nov. 28, 2002). By the way, Portage Rehab is not at Newberry's anymore now the two businesses are Down Wind Sports and Bruce Rukkila CPA. Houghton has changed but the rotating display case is still at Haugs in the back of the store, where a kid can watch the charms and jewelry go round and round by pushing the button.

Great picture of the Haug's Jewelry & Collectibles
window. Also went back to view the Nov. 28 pictures
and messages. Both bring marvelous memories. I look
forward to seeing all HHS grads at the reunion in July.
