Charlie at Pasty Central on Friday, November 29, 2002 - 09:47 am:

Just heard a news report about this being the busiest shopping day of the year. Anticipating that some Pasty Central regulars will browse by after fighting traffic and the jostle of the stores, here is a scene of serenity and quietness. Take a deep breath of the fresh air, feel the crunch of the clean new snow on your boots, and listen to the breeze in the treetops.

My dog Casey is nudging me to go for a walk. Excuse me while we take a real stroll in the scene above.

Hope you had a good Thanksgiving.

Good morning all. Hope everyone had as good a holiday as I. Beautiful picture this morning, Charlie. I can smell the fresh snow all the way down here ;)

By James in SW Wisconsin on Friday, November 29, 2002 - 10:28 am:

Great photo: This reminds me of my "back yard" in Munising. Sheba (springer spaniel) and I would snowshoe out along a power-line right-of-way and spend a few hours with the wonderful silence.

Sheba died this past Jan.

This picture has brought back some heart cherished memories.

Today I think I'll take a walk.....

You people up North have the white stuff on the ground. What is this strange substance? I just have red clay and dirt in my woods. Strange, strange!

OH HOW I MISS THE U.P.

By JC Indianapolis on Friday, November 29, 2002 - 11:26 am:

Insightful commentary. Fantastic picture. Happy Holidays!

By Jim: Mesquite, Texas on Friday, November 29, 2002 - 12:05 pm:

Beautiful picture! I miss the snow, but not the long, long winter!

By Scott, Wisconsin on Friday, November 29, 2002 - 01:28 pm:

Do some shopping on the internet and
enjoy the Pasty Cam instead of the Mall.

By Fred, Windberg/nrw on Friday, November 29, 2002 - 01:40 pm:

5 minutes? If I could a whole life! The pics are absolutely awesome. God's own country!

By Tim, Bakersfield, CA on Friday, November 29, 2002 - 02:07 pm:

A balmy 65 in Southern California but none of the beauty like in the picture. I'll drive to the mountains when I need my fix of snow. An 80 acre plot behind Chassell is still my favorite place.

By jk: nv on Friday, November 29, 2002 - 03:18 pm:

Such beautiful photos. I check your site first thing daily. Just love it. But what happened to wallpaper of the week. No new picture since 11/9?

By Dick, South Florida on Friday, November 29, 2002 - 04:03 pm:

Thanks for the great picture. We don't even have woods here in South Florida let alone snow. Even after 30 years I still miss it!

By Kelly Barman, KC. MO on Friday, November 29, 2002 - 05:42 pm:

Kelly Barman from Kearney, Missouri. Sure is a beautiful pic. I wish I was there. Grew up in Detroit, I can't forget those pasties. I better order a few. Have a great Holiday

By Wouldn't You Like To Know! on Friday, November 29, 2002 - 05:54 pm:

When life treats you nasty,
Feel better by ordering a pasty.

Wondering where you can get one I'll bet,
It's so simple... Go to pasty dot net.

When the world's best taste is a must,
Just take a bite of that flakey crust.

By Pat in PA on Friday, November 29, 2002 - 06:17 pm:

Hmm- Good question about the WOW! I was just thinking that THIS is a great candidate- certainly a nice way to start the day.

On another note, 45" by the snow thermometer looks like a good start for the beginning of December! I hope that keeps up for the remainder of the winter so I can at least enjoy it vicariously!

By Phyllis M., Nashville, TN on Friday, November 29, 2002 - 08:31 pm:

Great picture. I miss the beauty.I'm coming home for a visit in the Spring. Grew up in Laurium.

By Wanyne, Candler, NC on Friday, November 29, 2002 - 10:04 pm:

First time visiting Pasty Cam. My wife, two oldest children and I were blessed to live in the Copper Country for four years. Still miss the country and the people. Both great. We visit often, but not often enough. Thanks, keep up the great work.

By Alice, Ventura, CA on Friday, November 29, 2002 - 10:06 pm:

Hey, Tim...sounds like your 80 acres couldn't be that far from our old land. My folks were on the Pilgrim/Paradise roads. Sure was beautiful up there. Your mom wasn't a Wilmes, was she? And Jim, I don't miss the snow or the long winters! or the cold. But nice thing about CA is that you can have it all. They are reporting good base at the ski areas!

I sure love this site and all the wonderful people and pictures!

By Mary Lorentz, Hurst, TX on Friday, November 29, 2002 - 11:05 pm:

So peaceful and lovely!
Thanks!

By Dam Guy, Parasite Creek, Negaunee on Friday, November 29, 2002 - 11:06 pm:

Wow! I first learned to xc ski in the cemetary up the hill behind Wadsworth Hall on the MTU campus... this photo brings back some great memories of skiing at both Tech and NMU... and, of course, you can't talk about skiing in Houghton without mentioning Milan Baic, TC Vasa master or his sister Ivanka, an NMU alum. Skinny skis rock!

Hi Alice, A little further down Paradise Rd. on the Upper Massie. It's been 6 years since I've been back... far too long! Winter Carnival would be a nice time to return.

By Doug, Wixom, MI on Tuesday, December 10, 2002 - 08:35 pm:
