And Paul in Illinois, The stables and stockyard at the fort were along the row past the married enlisted mens quarters that you see pictured above. They are no longer standing. There is an interpretational plaque that mentions them posted on the site where they used to stand between the married enlisted quarters and the graveyard. There are possible plans for future reconstruction of more building sites at the fort. There was a sutlers post inside the actual garrison walls during the 1844 occupation of the fort. There was not a sutler during the 1868 occupation of the fort. At that time the sutler's building was used by the officers as a type of clubhouse.
