Among dozens of shots in the Pasty Cam photo in-box recently, here's a couple of contrasting glimpses of life in the U.P... Doug Smith takes us into the old deer camp, where we need to turn up the heat and plumbing (pretty luxurious accommodations here in the Keweenaw woods). Meanwhile, outside the snow keeps falling, which should leave some ideal tracking conditions when the season opens tomorrow morning. Actually, Dave Walli's snow berry shot was taken at the long swamp down Cliff Drive.

Thanks again to aspiring Pasty Camists everywhere who are sending such a variety of scenes spotlighting Upper Michigan. Happy (and safe) hunting.

We rented "Escanaba in Da Moonlight" last week. (yes, actually found it in the local drug store in Cleveland). Found it rather amusing. Don't get to see enough Yooper movies. I've been recommending it to my local deer hunter friends.

Before I head up up to the Peninsula, just had to check out the Copper Harbor cam. Looks like we did get some more powder overnight:

Yes, it is warm today in the Lansing area. I didn't even need a coat to let the dog out this morning! Maybe we'll get lucky and see that inch of snow that's being predicted!

On Paul Harvey today he was talking about the Crystallized Copper the folks in the Keweenaw are finding and getting big bucks for the stuff. He called them folks Rock Hounds. What's with that?

Have found a site on the net called webshots where they have pics for screen saver and desktops. They are nice but can't compare with the ones that you have here on pasty.net

KLP in Brunswick Ga. I worked at Whitepine,but did my huntin in the Bondfalls area.

It's the second week of deer camp and all our friends are here....great pictures. My wife's uncle had a rougher place then that on the Brule River by Iron River. I helped him dress a deer once, afterwards we put our feet by the fireplace and watched the snow fall. There was a picture of Uncle Willard's first shot of the deer season so the caption said. Actually he was pouring himself a shot.

You can download photos from webshots that are from the Keweenaw. Just go to the site and put Keweenaw in the search, and you'll find some nice pics (not as good as pasty.com, of course, but they're something...)

This bridge is my all time favorite. I always come back to it for wallpaper. Thanks for the bonus shot of it. I go crazy at the base of the bay on the way up and really loose it crossing this bridge-I'm so happy to be there.

Candy: Went to webshots and did the Keweenaw search and low and behold if one of the pictures doesn't have the Pasty.com emblem on it. Some of the other pics also looked familiar. Small world!!

To the Jax and Middleburg Yoopers from a Yooper that has been living in Live Oak for about 28 years now. I would love to attend a Pasty party. I just made about 20 from my Grams old recipe. They were delicious, not quite as good as hers, but pretty darn good. About twice a year I make a bunch and the kids love them. I have to hide a few in the back of the freezer if I want to have more than a few for myself. My family farm was in Bootjack, just outside of Lake Linden. Truly "God's Country"

To BT, I know the Aittama farm. My mom and dad lived right across the road in the brick ranch home that Tom Moyle built. My dear dad passed away a little more than a year ago. My mom moved into town just a few weeks ago. Now the house is up for sale. Anyways, we've been in the Aittima house and know the people who own it very well. I love that farm. They fixed it up very nice. It is beautiful all around that area. (ANY DEER HUNTERS IN THAT AREA HUNTING AND THINKING ABOUT MOVING TO THIS AREA PERMANENTLY, THERE IS A BEAUTIFULL RANCH HOME FOR SALE ON THE DEARFEILD ROAD. IT USED TO BE THE MUD LAKE ROAD. THE NAME CHANGED.CONTACT ME IF ANYONE IS INTERESTED. PRICE JUST CAME DOWN.) I love that area in Bootjack. My husband is out there deer hunting this weekend.

LOL at Nita!! I too am a "lone female" in my family. Three brothers and now two sons and of course one husband. Even the dog is male!!
When doing the bathroom cleaning, I always lament over the fact that I'm the only one sitting down, so I know it's not me "sprinkling when I'm tinkling", so why is it I'm the only one cleaning it up? Should have taught those boys how to hold a toilet brush, instead of a baseball bat!!!!!

Just got back from Camp Nuttin near Nissula. My buddy Joe.S. and I started the camp in 1968, still have 13 of the 15 original members. Joe and his Uncle died of cancer. Great group of guys, scattered all over the country, but most make it to the camp every year. We are closer than family. Stop in for a beer!

Regarding "Camp Nuttin". Just got back yesterday with my buck. Good hunting, good friends, and lots of snow. Nothing has changed since we started it in 1968, except we lost two members to cancer. Still have 13 of us left. Stop in for a cold beer someday.
