That was quite a snow shower this past weekend. Here's one shot we received from deer camp in the Baraga area, by Dan Strieter, formerly of Lake Linden.

We had our share here in the Copper Country, too. It was quite slushy on Cliff Drive for a while, and up on US-41 Scott Laurie grabbed a picture of the snow thermometer. Will we see it extended higher this year?

Would I like to make if on the 29th to see all those pictures "live"!! Looks like a beautiful time to be there-color and snow. Can't wait till Thanksgiving....It might even snow in Lansing a bit this coming week.

how did everyone like the new snow? me i enjoyed watching it. sat by the window drinking pop, watching the snow fly. it got stormy here for a minute or 2, but then.. just became a slow peaceful snow. i love to sit next to the window on a dark winter night, and just watch all the snow fall slowly onto the road.. moving it the next morning however is a different story.

Well... The two Georgia entries above mine can attest to this... If we had 1/10 of the snow in that top picture, all schools would be shut and every gallon of milk and loaf of bread would be bought from the area Kroger stores! If someone says the word snowflake here... panic sets in. It makes me laugh to think the year my dad died, they had a record breaking 401 inches of snow.

AH Well, here in North Florida if we get a frost they think it is snow and call the schools to see if they are closed. In December of 1988 we did get about 1/2 inch of snow and ice, it shut the city down for 3 three. Goodness it was a weekend so things were not too bad.

Sorry, messed up. Closed the city down for 3 days.

over here they don't close stuff down unless we get about 2 ft of snow.

In NJ, where I grew up... 3 Feet of snow and you CONSIDERED closing the schools! ... Those were the days!

In New Jersey where I once lived (about 40 years ago), two inches of snow was two too many and schools were closed. Have they made some progress?

We had a snow day in Anchorage last year for the first time in many years - two feet of snow did it. Less than that and everything goes on as usual. Just like in the UP.

Watch out for wild hogs in those woods.

love the camp picture. You can just feel the snow going down the back of the collar of your hunting coat after it slips from the white pine and cedar.
Hate it when that happens. Especialy about 7 a.m. on opening morning.

Hi, to all the former U.P. people who now live in Ga. Here in N.Ga.-Chattanooga area if there is even a mention of SNOW the rush on the grocery stores is on and schools are closed. I can't recall ever having a snow day in all my years of school up there.The snow picture is really nice

Hey "froggy", I think the snow down the back of the neck happened once too many times to my dad, Howard Bergh, and he took an old red wool shirt of his and made a cover for his cap with a "curtain" that hung down the back and around the sides, so that the snow would fall on the outside of his coat collar instead of on the inside. It looked a little funny, but it did the trick. He's passed on now, but that hat must still be around somewhere...
