There's something about every season in the U.P. which makes it hard for me to choose a favorite. This time of year I enjoy a morning walk with our dog Casey, back in the woods by the old dump. There's a patch of plump and juicy blackberries where we nibble a little, then bite into a crisp apple on the return trip. Peggy's first shot above captures it well.

After a bit of a controversial week here on the Pasty Cam (Grand Marais debate, Huron Mountain discussion) today's shots are pretty neutral. And pretty, too.

Love the Sunflower, beautiful bright promise to the start of a new day. :)

Hi Charlie and "gang,"
You are my first web stop in the morning. Thanks to all for sharing such great photos and memories of Michigan. I grew up in the Soo and miss the UP very much. Try to visit at least once a year. Not often enough.
I'll look through my old photo albums and see if I can come up with some old photos to share.

Incredible! That's all I can say. And thanks.

I love the flower-looks like a print you'd find for sale in a shop.

Charlie, I've been paying more attention to the Pasty Cam of late because a week from tomorrow, I'm heading up to visit the Copper Country! It's been too long between visits, and the Pasty Cam, John Dee and George Hite's site have all been stoking my 'coming home' fires. I'm anxious to to visit this time because I get to share the beauty of the Keweenaw with my husband who, until last year, had never seen anything north of the Mighty Mac. I can't wait!!!!

Hey...a little controversy is good for the soul. It helps to toughen up the skin!! :-)

This is just an excellent forum for all of the above!

Hi, Charlie!
Earlier this week, Labor Day to be exact, I had the pleasure of visiting StillWater where I have two aunts in residence. I was impressed by the beautiful gardens around the facility--looked like about two acres of professional landscaping with a gazebo. The building is very pleasantly decorated and the whole place seemed like a good place for our elderly (even not so elderly) relatives to have the companionship of friends.
My congratulations to the people who are behind the scenes making Stillwaters what is it.

Has anyone seen "Crackers"? Crackers is my long time friend who happens to be a cockatiel. We have been together for a number of years but today as I went out the door I didn't realize she was riding on my shoulder( a favorite position for her). As soon as she was free she took off for higher places. Her markings are mainly grey with a white breast and orange cheeks. She also sports a topknot similar to a bluebird. She isn't very friendly by wouldn't hurt anybody, I'm sure.If seen let me know at kenloisa@pasty.com

What area was she lost in?

Beautiful shots!!
I'm currently running away from a tropical storm/hurricane down in the GoM and it's nice to be reminded that there are such peaceful things waiting for me at home:) Hey Ken, I hope you find your bird and it might help if you let folks know where he flew away from. He's not out here in the Gulf, anyway;)
Alisa, all is well out here. The seas are at my back and the future is still straight ahead.
Love you!!
