What a perfect day, so perfect I almost forgot I'm still Pasty Cam editor for a few more ('til Charlie gets back anyway). Wish I could just jump inside this picture, catch a cool drink from that waterfall, grill up some Vollwerth wieners, and partake with friends around those picnic tables. Thanks for the mini vacation, JoAnne.

no it is not Jacob's falls, it's a picture of the falls outside of Lac La Belle, going towards gay, I can't think of the name though.

Haven Falls, 1/2 mile west of Lac La Belle

I believe it is Haven Falls and Haven Park on the northside of Lac la Belle just west of the old stampmill. Red Sands is actually the tailings from that mill which stamped the conglomerate rock from the Delaware Mine.

Kinda looks like Mac Frimodig park just outside of Copper Harbor, past Lake Medora.

I recognize the falls at Lac La Belle. And the little park. I have a picture of my kids there from way back in '69 or '70. Mimi and I were there just a month or so ago. :o) My aunt and uncle had a cottage there, Elwood and Toini Jaaskelainen. They're both gone now. :o( Mimi's sister and bro-in-law also had a cottage there.

Was going through some old photos and came across this one, taken about 10 years ago. Pretty much looks the same, even now. What is it with boys and sticks?

Haven Park

I recognized Haven Falls right away. Our family has stayed at Red Sands at Lac La Belle for decades. I can just taste the fresh pike cooked on that grill you can see behind the bridge.

I remember years ago (the 1980s) a group of my fellow buddies and I had a picnic in JANUARY at Haven Falls. We were all from Calumet AFS up on Mt. Horace Greeley...my supervisor, Paul Timm decided one day that we should have a picnic...we dug down to the grill, grilled Brats, sat ON THE TOP of the picnic tables and had a wonderful time...there were at least 20 of us that went that day...(snow was 5 feet deep)...we US Air Force guys did some weird stuff back then, but I'll NEVER forget that wonderful day! The Keweenaw is truly a magical place!

Ssssssshhh!! Don't tell anybody where this is!! We always make this place a stop-over, and there is never anyone else there! In California, going to the park is like going to the zoo!

This is a favoite place for our family. One of the first things we do when we arrive a the camp, is take a walk to the falls. Back when I was a kid, there was a set of log steps to the top of the falls on the right hand side. Now, we just climb using the tree roots. It is great to run over for a look after a rain storm.
Beautiful LacLaBelle!
