I read somewhere that Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minnesota together account for the majority of America's English pea production (or was it garden pea, green pea, sugar pea, or snap pea?) Harvest time has long since passed in the southern parts of the Great Lake states, but peaking as you move farther north. Thanks, Peggy, for another lovely shot.

And, by the way, peas are NOT included in our pasties. You would be surprised how often people ask.

The second scene is from Rose Riemer, as she was rambling on the rocks at Copper Harbor. A good eye runs in the family.

Once again the Pasty Cam wraps up a week with different photographers each day. Because of such contributions by so many friends - both pictures and comments - Pasty Central was honored on Monday to be among the Detroit Free Press favorite Michigan websites for 2002. Our thanks to Mike and Heather for the mention.

And now the tough job of picking this week's WOW :o)

I love Friday's pic of the lookout over the lake, I have had four of the pics this week set as my screensaver(Mon,Wed and Thurs.)...and its a hard choice...But I think my favorite for the WOW of the week is Friday's beautiful scenery lookout , Its makes me miss home everytime I see it!
Thanks Charlie , and all the people who have taken these wonderful pics..for giving all of us who are away from "home" a little trip back everyday via the internet..Thanks! Keep up all the great work!

I agree with Naomi......all of them are wonderful images this week but I think Friday's scene is my favorite :o)

I love the picture of the Isle Royale Queen leaving Copper Harbor - mainly because I took that trip several years ago & also have a beautiful picture of it hanging in my kitchen. I'm hoping to get up there in August. Sure do miss the beautiful northwoods!

One vote for the Jacobsville lighthouse. The lighting in that photo is extraordinary.

By Candy, CA on Saturday, July 20, 2002 - 04:58 pm:

I,too, vote for Brunette Park, on the peninsula's "tummy side." Sitting here in the air conditioned house as the mercury tops 100 again today, just thinking about driving up toward Lac La Belle with the windows down makes me feel cooler!
On another note, kiitos to Rose Riemer for the wonderful picture of what look like arbutus leaves in the rocks! (They could be blueberries, too -- it's hard to tell without being able to touch them!) Either way, they're sure wonderful to see. And, Charlie, there are still peas being picked here, but it's the second harvest...

I vote for Friday's picture! Reminds me of being atop Brockway Mountain- But isn't Friday's pic for Isle Royale? What is the name of the lookout? Well either way I think Friday's scenic overlook is spectacular-wow -so Ruth of FL and Naomi of Lansing I am agreeing with you both -chalk another up for the friday overlook.

Tough decision. Although Copper Harbor is my favorite place in the world and the evening shot of the queen from the lookout has a has a personal note for me, I would pick Brunette Park. I don't think that area has been featured before as Copper Harbor has, and it's such a beautiful shot. I like the shadows in the foreground. Had many a fine picnic there!

My vote goes for Peggy's garden. Refreshingly down home.

By Jacob, Auburn Hills on Saturday, July 20, 2002 - 09:09 pm:

Loving the "lookout point" since all of us seem to lack the knowlege of where it is exactly to have a actual name for it: )he he he

By Jacob..same bat time ,smame bat channel on Saturday, July 20, 2002 - 09:12 pm:

Oops! So my vote goes for Friday=just to clarify
p.s My wife and I leave for the Harbor on the 30th, cant wait, this just makes us aniticipate it even more.

By Shannon,Pickney Michigan on Saturday, July 20, 2002 - 09:53 pm:

I too had a hard time deciding but I also am selecting Friday as the wow of the week.
But great selections everyday this week, indeed it was a difficult decision.

By Ally,MO on Saturday, July 20, 2002 - 09:55 pm:

a tie between Brunette park, and the lookout of friday, so I am picking two, cause i just cant decide

By Cousin Jack on Sunday, July 21, 2002 - 12:15 am:

Those top 2 pics depict American character in a halved nutshell and the other 5 are drop dead gorgeous.
But I too favor that Friday photo(it must be the boy scout in me) and I found this quasi-doppelganger of Ol' Man River in my own collection. If it weren't for the barge, it could easily pass for some Isle Royale shoreline as seen from on high, eh?

I vote for the miners picture. we sure do forget easily how it used to be and what made the whole place start. I am so proud of the Copper Country for not dying when the mines closed 33 years ago. It still is a very beautiful place to be and I wish I was there every day. You would be surprised sometimes to hear from older people how hard it was to live there and that it would not be there first choice. Beauty is not everything. Everyone should be thankful that they can be up there and not have to work those mines anymore. I bet many peoples opinion would change if they did.
