Charlie at Pasty Central on Monday, July 8, 2002 - 07:56 am:

For a family reunion it was an ideal weekend in the U.P., and the Copper Country in particular. Ethel Moyle's computer provided some coverage of the shindig via PastyNET: Approximately 150 descendants, spanning 4 generations of the Family of David & Lucille Moyle were gathered on the farm. They had 9 children; of which 8 are still surviving, and all attended. Those 9 had 37 children; and 32 were present, accompanied by their spouses and children.

Pasty Central has another connection with these folks, some who journeyed across the country to be here. I wonder just how many hundreds of our U.P. pasties have travelled from Calumet to their homes over the years?

We hope your visit to the Keweenaw is a pleasant one, and have a safe return trip.

In high school in the early 40s I had a friend with whom I talked flying constantly whose name was Bill Moyle. Is this the same Moyle family??

By EM,on the farm on Monday, July 8, 2002 - 12:33 pm:

Bill was a cousin to these nine, He ended up as a pilot in ww2 He never made it back from his last mission in the South Pacific, great guy!

By KP from GR on Monday, July 8, 2002 - 03:21 pm:

What about Moyle Construction, any relation there? (I know we're all eventially distant cousins by way of Noah and his family).

By Keith Synder on Monday, July 8, 2002 - 06:59 pm:

What's next a slide show of somebody's trip to Cedar Point?

By Toivo from Toivola on Monday, July 8, 2002 - 09:47 pm:

Probly not, Keith. But the Pasty Cam did make it all the way to Anchorage, Alaska with the Tech Women's hockey team last Spring.

Mimi and I attended the Maki Family reunion at the Aura Town Hall Saturday. The place was packed. The decendants of Andrew, Juho, and Andrew K. Maki from Pelkie. Kilpela and Friends played for the dance afterwards. It was wondermous, and fun, too. Got to meet many 'new' cousins. My side of the tree is Johann (Juho) and Justiina on the Papin Rd. in Pelkie.

What a gteat place the U.P. truly is when people travel from far & near just to be with Family, We raise 'em right up here.

By P.M.,Mi on Tuesday, July 9, 2002 - 12:20 pm:

SO...Why not a slide show of someones trip to Cedar Point? It's great to see people enjoying each other. One does not have to be prostesting everything on the Planet that doesn't agree with their opionion.

By Dave Cloutier, Colorado on Tuesday, July 9, 2002 - 12:39 pm:

Yes, GJ I agree.......people are raised right in the UP. Isn't a happy family reunion a wonderful 'glimpse of life in Michigan's UP'? I think the Moyles and Makis know what it is all about.

By The Texas Moyles, TX on Wednesday, July 10, 2002 - 09:36 am:

Hello to all the Moyles in the Copper Country! Looks like everyone had a great time.

By Elliott O. , New York on Wednesday, July 10, 2002 - 07:29 pm:

The Moyle's are a good example of good old family values and traditions. This is the fabric of America. May God bless the Moyles!

By Moyleville,U.S.A. on Wednesday, July 10, 2002 - 09:53 pm:

Thank you Elliot O., New York, from all the Moyle's and every other good old American Family, May God bless you too.

By LZ, Illinois on Wednesday, July 10, 2002 - 11:09 pm:

With the events of last year, we as a family (of Moyle's)decided to celebrate what it means to be American's and also family members. We should not take are country or our families for granted, as we all know things can change in an instant.

As a member of the Moyle clan I can proclaim a good time was had by all. The UP is a special place and for those of us who have moved away for employment opportunities, it's real special to be able to go back and celebrate with family members and friends of the family.

By DM from Upper Michigan on Thursday, July 11, 2002 - 06:12 pm:

I was sorry to have missed the Moyle Family reunion. Heard lots of reports that a great time was had by all -- the Moyle's always know how to throw a party! I miss all of the fun Aunties, Uncles and Cousins -- hope everyone is doing well!

I am a Grandaughter of Ettie Beatrice Grace Moyle(Pelmear) and decendant of Matthew Moyle from Creegrawse, Chacewater Cornwall. I believe there is Joyce , David and other relatives much younger now...I am 51 and my name is Lynn and I would like to know my relatives in Cornwall, Iused to write to Auntie Emily after my mom Joyce passed away. I am reading Uncle Matt's diary and he made pasties every Wednesday and rode his bicycle up chapel every day. Are you a relative? I live in Washington State. Do you have any info? My uncle George I believe still corresponds to a few Pelmears. My Grandfather was Arthur. Thank you...HmmmI am feeling like baking a pastie today...
