Here are a couple of the hot spots this weekend in the U.P., with parades, music, food and fun:

Calumet - Heritage Days celebration. Come to the park for a pasty at the Keweenaw Lion's booth. Jan Arnold will be among the entertainers.

Sault Ste. Marie - The Soo Locks Festival! Find a complete schedule of events at soolocksfestival.com

My personal thanks to all the folks who contributed to our growing archives this week, a different photographer every day, with scenes from all across the U.P. Keep those Pasty Cams clicking!

Where is Point Mills Shore?

By Rich in Peoria, IL on Saturday, June 29, 2002 - 03:37 pm:

Coming Home on Tuesday. Can't miss the Strawberry Festival in Chassell. Used to love playing the fish game. They gave you a fishpole and you hung your line over a sheet that was hanging on a clothesline and they would attach a prize to it. I remember a few of my winnings, a Mr. potato head and 78rpm record of White Christmas with old Bing Crosby.

Thank you, Toivo! You're a peach! I thought it looked familiar, but never new it's name. Have been sailing near there a couple times (in a sailboat, not a parachute).

Is the area they call "The Isle Royale Sands" located in around Point Mills ??

By Mike, MI. on Sunday, June 30, 2002 - 05:40 pm:

Just thought of another area, where is "Princess Point" located ?? If you look on an local map the road past the Dreamland Bar is called Princess Point road. Thanks

The photo was taken across the lake from Dreamland and approximatly 1/4 mile west.

Another note: hotspot for fun this weekend... Bergland, on beautiful Lake Gogebic is having its centennial this year. Fun for all the family! Among the many, many activities spanning the 3rd- 6th. There will be a down home picnic, parade, historical displays, as well as the biggest fireworks display and a rockin band at the park pavilion afterwards! Come join the fun and help Bergland celebrate 100 yrs!
Contact the Bergland Centennial Committee @ 906-575-3262 or visit berglandcentennial.com for more information. See you there!!

Point Mills is exactly as you have pegged the spot..... I live out there and my husband and I watched this activity also, however I saw the parasailer in the lake more than I saw him in the air, but it sure looked like fun to both of us on a hot summer day.

Keep your watchful eye open and camera near by Rob. I have been checking the sight for your pics.
