Summer is here when the Oxeye Daisies bloom. These are on the Lake Of The Clouds Escarpment, on the east end. I got it while guiding the MTU Youth Arts and Science Institute, high school kids from all over Michigan. Fun trip with chatter ranging from the inane to real interest in flora, fauna and geology.

Same spot, different season:

Beautiful. Again, there's gotta be more than one WOW this week!

Lake of the Clouds is in the Porcupine Mountains just southwest of Ontonagon. If you live in Kearsarge it would be about an hour-and-a-half drive. You can park about 1/4 mile away from the overlook of the Lake. If you haven't been to the Porkies, you just gotta go! They have a nice visitors center just as you get into the State Park which has all the maps and everything (even some wildlife dioramas).

Lake of the Clouds...Lisa.
In the Porcupine Mountains west of Ontonogan.
(can a Torvo map be far behind?)
I have 6 seasonal pics from Dan from the very same spot in my office...always beautiful!

You have done it again. Between the pictures of Bumbletown Hill and the Lake of the Clouds, I can pretty much stay homesick. I graduated from White Pine High School and I am going to retire to Bumbletown Hill someday. After all these years my heart is still in the UP. The Pasty Cam keeps me close to home even in Florida.

Another awesome pic Dan! I'll be up there in 2 weeks and I may just sit where this picture was taken and not leave until I have to come back to Redondo Beach. I also have to figure out how to get the plane to agree to fill the entire luggage section with boxes of pasties. It's been 3 long years away from that place. Too long!

Great, "cooling" photos, Dan, after a sweltering day like this. Thanks! Michele, www.keweenawnow.com

Tears running from my eyes. What a way for me to keep up with what's what!!! Love your site(s)!!! Thank you so very much. And to think I came upon it quite by accident. Thnx!

I remember hiking up the trail to Lake of the Clouds with my parents and siblings when I was a teenager. It was a wonderful site. We had come to vacation for 2-3 weeks in the Hancock area visiting my mother's home and family. Always did like going to Copper Country.
