The infinite variety of sights in the U.P. include some which only last for a moment - like the leafy jewelry above, which quickly evaporated. Other images are more lingering, such as the "Face in the Rock" near Munising.

The dewpoint and humidity give a unique feel to these June mornings, and Donn de Yampert captured it at the precise moment. On the other hand, no rush for Keith Harju of Copper City as he photographed this 180 year old carving in the sandstone near the mouth of the Au Train river. Nice article about it in this week's Marquette Mining Journal. A thank-you to Ray Baker of Ann Arbor for pointing it out, and emailing Keith's shot.

Great photo of rain drops!

I can almost feel the cool stillness of a clear U.P. morning. Makes me want to go home NOW! ^_^

You really captured a moment there.

Well done.

Jeff

Donn- What kind of camera do you have? I suspect that even if I had one, I couldn't do the professional job you do! Wonderful picture. Thanks!

What a double treat! It was 92 degrees here today, and at 11:25 it's still hot and sticky. Coming to the Pasty Cam and seeing the top photo was like a breath of cool sweet air. And then getting to read about this cool carving and the story behind it made it a doubly nice trip. Thanks!

Dear Alice, Ventura, CA, I want to thank you for your kind comments regarding the photograph. I am using a Sony DSC-F707 digital camera (

Regards,
Donn
