Wednesday's snow all melted yesterday. A good time for a walk in the woods. Where are we?

By troll that is a yupper wanna be on Friday, May 10, 2002 - 08:42 am:

On the way to Copper Harbor on the West side of road in the area where all the trees form a canopy over the road? (Sorry don't know exact name for that area)

By Troll on Friday, May 10, 2002 - 08:43 am:

How about the stretch on 26 near the Twin Lakes,Donken area.I think it may be just south of twin Lakes. It's on the right side headed north. Seems like there is an old house just to the south of the pond. Close?

BOB IN G.B.
I was born and raised in the Copper Country and hunted and fished every square foot of it. This scene could be one of a hundred. Hauntingly beautiful. I tune into Pasty.com every day. Love it.

By Marvin, Florida on Friday, May 10, 2002 - 11:02 am:

It is pictures like this that make me check Pasty.com everyday. I grew up in the Copper Country also and hope to move back. I have been in Florida for 21 years and it is still not my home. Home is in the Copper Country where my heart is. Pasty.com keeps us in touch with the most beautiful place in the world. Thank you very much for giving me a picture of home everyday. This beauty is not found anywhere else in the world. I have seen lots of this big world since I left home back in 1972. As soon as I get my kids raised I will return.

By Annie, Minnesota on Friday, May 10, 2002 - 11:19 am:

It reminds me of Emily Lake, which is south of Twin Lakes, near Jakes Bar...camped there many, many times when me & my love were young & carefree. Looking forward to being up on the Keewenaw later this spring!

By sue, MI on Friday, May 10, 2002 - 11:30 am:

Leaving L'Anse heading south cresting the first hill, on the left.

By Box, IL on Friday, May 10, 2002 - 11:35 am:

Outside of L'Anse going to Marquette, North Side of the road, Top of the Hill.

By Donn de Yampert, Houghton, MI. on Friday, May 10, 2002 - 11:46 am:

This was taken at a little pond South of L'Anse on the left side of the road. It was raining but the shot still came out nice.

<Charlie>: Our thanks to Donn for all the great shots he has sent to the Pasty Cam recently.

Not many roads through this stretch, but here will give you an idea of the vicinity:

Near L'Anse

Donn -- Is that the pond that has a cabin/house on it--would be to the right and up the hill from your pic. There was a small dock on the pond below the house.

By Martha K., Pinckney, MI on Friday, May 10, 2002 - 12:18 pm:

This is soooo beautiful! Donn, any chance you could stop back here say in January? Would love to see this spot with it's winter dress on.

By Bob Forsberg, Wi. on Friday, May 10, 2002 - 03:26 pm:

Now I remember. It's just south of Bovine on the East side of HWY 41. Often wondered if there were fish in the pond. Looks like I'll have to wet another line.

By Nancy Nelson, WI on Friday, May 10, 2002 - 05:22 pm:

My kinda picture--always look at that pond as I go by, but never have stopped. Didn't know what I was missing.
The picture of the Covington church was taken at 8:30 am on April 5. It had obviously been snowing for quite a while, and the pine woods on the way to Crystal Falls were a wonderland.

By Candy, CA on Friday, May 10, 2002 - 09:51 pm:

Donn,

What are the chances of getting a copy of this that I could blow up?? Let me know the cost and I'll be happy to oblige. I miss the Yoop in spring and fall the most, I think, but the impending summer feel of this photo is wonderful.

By me on Friday, May 10, 2002 - 10:32 pm:

Are them Tamarack trees in this pic?

By Charlie at Pasty Central on Friday, May 10, 2002 - 10:33 pm:

Candy,

We'll make this one the Wallpaper of the Week. It will be available up to 1600 x 1200 resolution.

Great candidate for the Pasty Cam 2003 calendar, also.

By Marie, Ok. on Saturday, May 11, 2002 - 12:35 am:

Cabin belongs to Louis Dudo of L"Anse--Hi Louis! I can't believe how many people knew this.

By LAB CC on Saturday, May 11, 2002 - 09:56 pm:

Those trees sure seem to be tamarack which is the only conifer type tree that loses it needles.

By Edward Joos, FL on Tuesday, June 11, 2002 - 05:28 pm:

This scene could be just about anywhere in the wilds of the Upper Peninsula. When I was a boy up there I saw scenes like this everywhere. These are those I miss.
