As I click the final upload for this morning's Pasty Cam, outside my window it's snowing to beat the band. A little farther up on the Peninsula yesterday, Steve Brimm ventured out on the rocks with his camera. Nice shot Steve.

About the time Steve emailed this, I had a unique view of the Keweenaw shoreline from atop my neighbor's TV tower. Jonathan and I were helping disassemble and remove it, and I had the honors of unbolting the antenna from the mast. That extra 35 feet in the air let me see out to 5 mile point and up to Great Sand Bay. By the time we finished, it was getting quite cold, but the view made it well worth the climb.

I'm surprised you didn't have your camera with you Charlie! This is beautiful, Steve.

Mr. Brimm's picture grabbed me, or, should I say sent me reeling into the past. Scampering over, around these west side Keweenaw lichen covered rocks provided grand adventures. Of course, its my wallpaper. And, I'll give it a vote for 2003.

does anyone have a cadillac for sale? a 79-82 with low miles? i am looking for one?

By Cousin Jack on Thursday, May 2, 2002 - 02:36 pm:

Beautiful shot, Steve. Whoever said the Keweenaw shoreline could be bleak and colorless? And what's almost best about it is what's not there(i.e. man-made structures)
Definitely worth preserving in its native state.

Charlie, perhaps you should get Elmo to build a tower in your yard.

I agree with Carol/IN. Where was your camera, Charlie? This is a beautiful picture. I have walked this shoreline years ago when I worked in Copper Harbor for Marko. Marko Yurkovich. He had "Marko's Steakhouse and Cabins", across from the Brickside Store. It burned in '59, I think. Does anyone have a shoebox memory of Marko's? There must be a few of us that worked for him.

Is this area right near the little roadside park
between Copper and Eagle Harbor. That was a great stop for a quick cookout on our trip up there 2 years ago. We couldn't stay long. The wind started to kick up and we had to move on to our overnight stay in Houghton. Beautiful shot Steve.
Lisa, don't have a Caddy but I have a 77 Buick with only 100K on it I'll sell ya...

The photo puts me in mind of the lichen covered basalt rocks that are on Isle Royale. Looking forward to getting back out there to commune with the moose and frolic with the rangeretts.

Beautiful shot! I'm sitting here in my Northern Virginia home outside Wash DC and can almost hear the sound of Lake Superior and breathe the fragrance of the Keeweenaw that I miss!

Thanks Steve -- it's my desktop now (replacing one of the Taquamenon Falls I downloaded around Christmas).
