The floodgates are wide open on the spillway at Victoria Dam. It was heady experience to witness the incredible volume of water thundering over the 100 foot precipice, especially in some of the photos taken near the bottom of the falls. One misstep along the cliff side would land you into certain death. But when you're crazy, and have to have that special shot, it's gotta be done. We'd like to go back when the sun is higher and bring ropes next time.

Nice shots. The Victoria Dam is a great area. My grandfather used to have a job as a kid running up and down the wooden pipeline looking for leaks. His brother was also a crew member during the original dam construction. I read that the wood was replaced by steel last summer. Does anyone know if the guy that was restoring the town of Victoria is still living in Victoria, or if the resto project is still progressing?

Every day, I look at this site, I've been in Prague for almost 1/2 a year, and I miss the UP sooooo badly, it's so funny how many people leave the UP, only to bring themselves into a terrible feeling of longing. I've been around America 5 times, pretty much every state except Alaska and Hawaii, this is my 3rd time to Europe, and you know what I've learnt from it all---dat der ain't no place like da UP. I can't wait to come back!!!
I especially love this time of the year, when everything's thawin' out an' gettin' muddy. To know that that winter has finally yielded to spring...ah...

Once again proving why Pasty Cam is one of the best darn sites on the internet, period!

Stunning shots! One can almost hear the water in that third one. Those will be among the ones that when you look at them years from now, you will get a bit queezy thinking about just how close to edge you were - but you won't regret it!

Thanks, Dan for the reminders of home. Been in Colorado for over 20 years, and the Keweenaw is still home. Your pictures bring back many memories of Springtime in the UP, which is comparable to Springtime in the Rockies. (It snowed sideways here almost all day yesterday!). Steamboat Springs is beautiful, but there is only ONE Keweenaw! Keep 'em comin'; I'll be watchin'!

Thanks Dan for being a bit "crazy!" You really do get those special shots. These are PC 2003 for sure!

Also my aunt took us to the Restoration project a few years back. It was wonderful! Ya gotta go.

You sure that dam didn't break? What awsome pictures and what awsome power! Dan, I'd love to tag along with you on some of your picture-taking adventures! I cannot wait to get back up "home" to Copper Harbor on May 4th!
