Charlie almost back to Pasty Central on Tuesday, April 9, 2002 - 08:18 am:

Monday when I uploaded the Pasty Cam shot of the day by Nancy Nelson - that snowbank in Calumet with the layers of stamp sand - I was not aware that Susan Hooker had also emailed us a related shot. This shows Nancy in search of her Cam-shot... this one taken at the Houghton Breakwater (where the water is still a little stiff these days).

I would be curious to see the glacial shot which Nancy took as she was being framed by Susan :o)

By the way, today's Pasty Cam comes to you courtesy of the Minneapolis International Airport, where we are on a 4 hour layover on our return trip from Anchorage, with the Tech Women's Hockey Team. There are these nifty service areas here in the airport, complete with data port phones to tap into the 'net. Incidentally, we did see a real glacier while we were in Alaska.

What a difference a couple of counties make! Here in Menominee County I have a patch of snow about five feet by two feet by 1 1/2 inches and that is on the north side of a spruce tree! We only shoveled twice this winter (so far) and the crocus and daffodils are up about 4 inches. However, I think the northern UP has it all, even with snow most every day for six months. I did live for 20 years on the south shore of Superior and enjoyed it.

Hey, Charlie, you should have given Grandma a call on your layover. We could have picked you up and had lunch and a good chat. Horse Expo at the state fairground is the end of April. Time to break out the "pasty shop" and serve a few people. Love the iceberg, Susan. What a great shot. Best to all Pasty Cammers. Thanks to Daryl for updating our page. ---Sandy---

Hi Sandy,

We considered calling Grandma's pasties at the time, but were too affected by jet lag to think clearly. The airport really has changed since we used to pass through there all the time back in the 80's.

We invite all of our Pasty Central visitors in the Twin Cities to stop by Grandma's at the Minnesota Horse Expo 2002 April 26 - 28.
