Usually it's January when the deer get real friendly, peeking right into our windows, wondering if we could spare some apple peels or dairy feed or something. Here it is almost April, temperatures still in the single digits over the weekend. This crazy winter doesn't want to let go.

It's the last week before the MTU Women's Hockey club travels to Alaska for the national championship. Thanks to the many Pasty Central friends who have contributed toward their support for the trip. Pasty Cam 2002 calendars are on the way as a thank-you. And if you haven't yet chipped in to help the Husky Hockey ladies, there's still time. See the March 12th Pasty Cam.

What a wonderful sight Charlie. To be able to look out and have Superior off in the distance. I bet many a fine cup of coffee has been drank in the morning looking out over that scene.

That's one heckuva specimen of paper birch ya got there, Charlie! I'm guessing that little herd of backyard ruminants are just wishing they were tall enough to reach up and nibble on some of its sweet winter buds.

Looking at those cute little deer is making me hungry. I've got one stored in my freezer! I believe venison steaks are in order for tonight!!! Thanx again for 'da pasty cam'!

It really is a pretty picture, Charlie. But I have enough of that 'gov't beef' here already. They eat the flowers and the new shoots and buds from my apple trees and lilac bushes and the cedars. They seem to love the sunflower seeds in my bird feeder, too. Oh well, watcha gonna do?

Hey, I'm not a cruel man...... I'm an animal lover. I love to eat em! Hunting is not cruel, it's very humane. Last spring my wife and I found about 25 dead deer carcasses in Eagle River of deer that starved or died some other means. (maybe coyote or wolf or cougar) Has anyone seen the COUGAR along Cliff Drive?

I gave my daughter some grilled venison last week without telling her what it was. When I did reveal the kind of meat she was enjoying her response was, "Well, deers are my favorite animals and they taste good, too!"

Of course Eino meant you were cruel because you didn't invite him and me over for some of that venison, not because you help manage the herd. Why, the Lord Himself was the first to utilize one of His animals for a human purpose.

After Adam and Eve had disobeyed and realized they were naked, they became the first vegetarians and tried to sew some fig leaf britches. In Genesis 3:21 it says, "The LORD God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them." A living creature had to die to provide what they needed. (Some heavy implications, considering Good Friday later this week.)

So I'm sure Eino didn't mean hunting was cruel. He just wanted an invite to dinner. I know Eino.
