On that long stretch of U.P. wilderness between L'Anse and Ishpeming, before you reach Michigamme, there's the lovely cabin community of Three Lakes. Gordy Rice sends this eyewitness report from his family's camp, wondering if Spring really arrived this week.

In another year, another season, my wife and I saw this peaceful scene on Ruth Lake (one of the "Three"), passing along US-41.

Beautiful photo of the "camp" Gordy. And now my question is is this.. Is the roof to the out-house trussed properly or does one have to worry about the roof caving in while they are in there taking care of business? Of course if they made it that far from the cabin to the facilites I am guessing there would be more pressing things on their mind. LOL LOL With love from a Yopper wanna' be...

The names of the Three Lakes are: Lake Ruth, Lake George and Lake Beaufort. Someone once told me that they were named after Babe Ruth, but I just checked and Babe's real name was George Herman Ruth, Jr., not George Beaufort Ruth. Lake Ruth looks so peaceful when ever we pass through on our way to Bootjack. Someone mentioned Three Lakes the other day and my mind drew a blank, but I remember it now. Charlie keep up the good work. I love logging on daily to see the beautiful photos, can't wait for our next visit to the Keweenaw.

Where's da sauna?

I remember the good times i spent here swimming at Three lakes when i was a youngster back in 62. My sisters in-laws were runnin the place at the time(Tourtillotts) Sure miss those summers!

Does anyone have a picture that shows both
Lake George and Lake Ruth? I would love to
see it if you do.
