Maybe Spring has arrived elsewhere across North America, but here in the U.P. we'll just have to wait a while longer. This shot from Paul Roberts conveys the overcast feeling up here in the Keweenaw this morning, and yes, we had more new snow overnight.

By the way, Paul says he's ready for Summer already. He sent along this picture of his audition for the re-make of E.T.

Ahhhhh, the wonderful U.P. with it's never-ending winters! Believe it or not, part of me misses them. Hope you all make it until spring finally arrives! Great picture Paul.

Rick in previous message - if you were lucky enough to live in the Keweenaw you probably left for only one reason: you wanted to eat regularly. I can't think of any other reason to leave "God's Country!" We have done many of the things you mentioned (except for the Subaru!) in the past 30+ years we have been spending our vacations in the Keweenaw. We were extremely lucky last year to see a Great Gray Owl. Can't wait to get back up there this summer!

Rick, just think about 300 inches of snow snow snow. Speaking of snow, any one know if Three Lakes got as much as the Keweenaw?

The SNOW was OK with me. The lack of work over minimum wage (and seasonal at that)....was the reason.

But not a good one.

Keweenaw has a life-sustaining ethereal beauty unequaled ANYWHERE on earth. Trust me...I've lived EVERYWHERE it seems.
If you live in Keweenaw, stay. Life is FAR more bleak anywhere else.

Hows about puttin' one of your Three Lakes shots on this page for the rest of us to see? In the "Add a Message" box below, just type in \image{xx} (with a title for the picture instead of xx) to upload. The preview page shows a temporary graphic labelled "Your Image Here", then when you click "Post this Message" it asks you to browse for the image on your hard disk, and it uploads it to this page, (replacing the temporary graphic in your message).

Make sure your image is no wider than 560 pixels, and it should be in .jpg format.

And if all that seems too complicated, you could email it to Charlie, and he might use it on the Pasty Cam.

I should say that a fellow troll and good friend of mine from down under (the bridge), Jim Martin, took the "E.T audition" shot. I rather enjoyed auditioning for the remake of E.T. and I'd do it again anytime, be it winter or summer. Of course the mode of transportion would be based on the season. :-)
