The moon has been beautiful this week here in the Keweenaw. One evening we watched it rise over Crestview here in Eagle River. This is how the scene must have appeared over on the moonrise side of the Peninsula. Kraig Mahrley did a great job of putting together several photos to create this panoramic view. And low light shots are even more of a challenge.

The new webcam up in Copper Harbor happened to catch the moon-set this week, totally unattended. Sharon Smith has some notes about it at A View From the Field.

I'd like to send a special thank you to all who posted notes on yesterday's anniversary page, and for all the happy birthday emails. As we begin year 5 of this daily glimpse of life in the U.P., we invite you to be a part of it, with your pictures and comments. When my son Jonathan and I began this journey, he took all of the daily pictures, and I wrote all of the daily notes. Now the Pasty Cam family has grown to include thousands of kindred spirits from all over the world who share our love of this special region. Thanks to all who make it happen.

Even from Steamboat Springs, CO; there is NOTHING like the sunset or moonrise over Superior...not to mention the Northern Lights! If I can't be there, this is a pretty good second. Thankx for the link to "home"! Once a Yooper...
