Now that looks like a typical UP winter day except for the missing 10 foot snowbanks.

This picture makes me homesick. I remember scenes like this when I lived there 50 years ago. Thank you for bringing back woderful memories of God's country.

My uncle Bill had a cottage on Twin Lakes
the "Flitter Woochen". Remember snow showing in
to shovel the roof off. He kept wood on the enclosed front porch, that you could access
once you dug down to the door. We would fire up the wood cook stove, the heattrola and fireplace
to warm up the old cottage. If the fires went out in the middle of the night, you knew
pretty quickly, and got up and restocked.
What great times..

Two photos from Mass City in one month! I am so homesick and wouldn't mind if the snow started letting up so we could dig our way to our Twin Lakes house before June. (Our plowman, Fred Saatio, went away for the winter this year.) Hi to everyone who worked at the Northland Restaurant, to members of Ontonagon class of '77 and to my favorite Mass City Yoopers, Cassandra, Ronnie and Johnny Wagner.

How do I beam myself up there? What memories this picture brings back. A wonderful place for a kid to grow up.

Looks like a fun way to get around town. Wish we had some of the snow here in Wisconsin!

Looks like a lot of fun for the kids. I remember sking the snowmobile trails from adventure ski hill over the "small bluff" and coming out on top of butchers hill near the Mass Dam, then ski down the snow covered road down butchers hill to the backstreet where this picture was taken.

You could then ski all the way to the house, take off your skis at the back door and walk in for hot choclate and finnish bakery...to cool, nice pic great to see pics from West end of UP anyone from Mass City, Greenland, Rockland or Ontonagon got anymore pics to share on pasty cam?

They still racing snowmobiles at the adventure mountain raceway?? bet some nice pics from top of the ski hill looking towards Ontos would be great.

This picture sure does bring me back...to that cold wind, icicles down to the ground off your roof, "40 ft" snowbanks, transportation by snowmobiles.... j/k :-P Anyways, thanks for the pic! I have been stuck out here in Germany for 3 years and haven't been home to the U.P. since April 99'. Needless to say, I miss it and everyone there, I will be home 7Apr-21 April and can hardly wait! I miss you guys!!
Love you, Carissa Pearson (Maki)
