We are still busy with the Redridge Dam project. Here's a question for Pasty Camwatchers... We have a reference that the wooden dam was drained and worked on in November of 1953, but cannot find details of what Copper Range did to it. Does anyone remember or know someone who might? Clarence Monette made the original mention, in his book, but doesnt know the details either.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello all. ive been to redridge alot and have seen the dam. but im not to up on the location. i dont remember a lake. is there not enough water anymore? also a little about superior view. absolutely one of the best location restaurant in the world. must stop in and pray it never closes. of course back in the seventys when i was a kid. it was a long drive to superior view. what with the roads and bumps it was a challenge. i was amazed last year when i took my fiancee stephanie to superior view. the roads where all fixed and it didnt take long at all. i was a little disappointed that the old road was all gone. but we took the long way back through the covered road.

I was there this summer, first time in 35 years, the road has changed alot. Is the Church near-by going to be restored? Still was great being in that whole area, worth returning to.

Hi, I visited redrige last summer. My father was born there,and I hadnt been there since I was a little girl. My Name was Marlene hautala. My fathers name was John Hautala. He was born there in the 1800s. I took many pitures of the old church and, when we returned from our vacation my husband made a replica of it with all the details. We ate at the superior resturant and, they said the mining company owns the church now and, the township is looking into buying the church and, restoring it. The superior resturant sells books about the history of redridge. We loved the view from the resturant and, the food was great.

Hi, The little church in Redridge is privately owned now, Im not sure by whom, but if there is any hope of restoring it they better hurry! It has been terribly vandalized and is falling in, it's a shame.
My daughter and her friends love working at the Superior View, it's a wonderful place.
We are hoping to find out that Copper Range filled behind the wood dam with mine rock to stabilize it. This would help us alot to get more support for fixing it again. Please ask anyone who might know and have them contact us. Thanks, Cindy

Clyde is a great guy all right. But he might not be there for long - I visited the Superior View last summer and it was for sale!

I can remember when I went to school in Redridge, going to the base of the dam and exploring in the hugh culverts. Naturally, since it was off limits, my friends and I had to go there.
Lots of great memories of the school.

Try walking out on the rails of the big dam......If you dare its pretty exhilirating.

I wish the old dam could have stayed as it was years ago. It was a beautiful spot and I would consider it a landmark in Redridge. I was born and raised on the Redridge lake shore and still go up to spend some time during the summer months as we still have the family home there. Used to swim in the dam where we had a nice beach along with a raft and diving board. There was also a small dock for boats. It was near the entrance to the spillway when the dam was high before they drained it down to the old wooden dam. Hope something can be done to save it.

Redridge will always hold a special place in my mind. When I attended MTU, my friends and I would snowshow around the lake as well as check out the sunset. The people that live around there now need to ensure that it stays the same for future generations. This also holds true for the visitors!!!

I remember the good ole days skipping school catching suckers on their run in the spring.
The winters were especially boring.....Are the railroad tracts and ties still on top? At least during the summers we used to dodge the broken ties to get to the middle of the dam overlooking the lake and town to smoke some mean buds.....Hmmmmm.....The walk was always easier back for some reason.....Hey Cindy, are you related to Boogie?
