Yesterday it came to our attention that CNN had a special report about the snow castles here in the Copper Country. This is the very same structure which appeared in place of the "bridge cam" last month, as the snow structure was being constructed.

Wow, this area has received lots of national media coverage lately! The current issue of Men's Journal includes Houghton as one of the healthiest, safest, most fun towns in America... and as you travel north along the Keweenaw Peninsula, it gets even better!

What a great day for something warm! We've had lots of people stop by the Lumitalo in Hancock. This was taken during the Heikinpäivä 2002 event. There is even talk that the Today Show from NBC might come to town this week-end for more coverage. We made into the big time with CNN's website too. A couple of days ago I was listening to the Classical station here in Northern VA(DC) and they introduced a Sibelius piece by telling about this house. That was fun to hear, since in 2 1/2 weeks I will be a resident of Hancock!!!!!! yea!

So today I got nostalgic and wanted to see some of my homeland and find a website/phone/email for Porcupine Press Magazine and I have been surfing northern Michigan websites, on and off, all day. I grew up in the Hubbell/Lake Linden area. It is funny the longing to be there never goes away. Thanx to one and all for bringing me back to what I miss. Great memories.
