Back in the 70's my wife and I and our newborn son moved to Marquette, to help start a radio station up above the Daily Mining Journal building... the old WDMJ, which became WHWL. On the weekends we would put the boy in a backpack and go exploring south of town, out through the woods and along the old railroad tracks. The telegraph pole in this faded postcard reminds me of the poles along those tracks, which have mostly disappeared by now. We still have some of the insulators we found on the ground and the cross ties. No, they're not heart shaped.
Not far from that spot, and a couple of years later, a baby girl moved in with her family. You may have seen her on the Pasty Cam... not a baby any more, saying 'yes' to the proposal of that boy who grew up to become the original Pasty Camist. Jonathan and Katriina have set the date of the wedding (for those inquiring minds who want to know) for this August.
In case you missed the day
