During winter carnival, one particular night is set aside for snow sculpture competition. Rose Rose Riemer provides a shot of the winning fraternity statue (top) and Jonathan Hopper dons his hard hat to see the work in progress.

For more coverage of this year's festivities, see the Photo Gallery at Michigan Tech.

Y'know, I been t'ru Tech twice. (Many years ago I went to two Open House festivities.) :o) When I lived up dere, we used to go see the snow statues and sculptures every winter. It's amazing what they can do with that snow and hard water, and lotsa elbow grease and lotsa late hours. Thank you, Techies and Kiitos, Charlie!

Gorgeous stuff. Amazing that the kids have pulled it off, with the winter not cooperating a whole bunch!

Sid and Mary,
I was up there today, some already show signs of wear. One I saw had a head and arm broken off already. Sure is disappointing to me that the students put so much time and work into these works of art and then someone comes along and wrecks it. If it disappoints me, I can imagine how the statue builders must feel. They really are something else to behold!!! Thanks to all the builders! :)
