This colorful scene is what I came home to from work yesterday, in Fulton. I thought it was worth taking out the digital camera.

Proof that it gets sunny in the UP from time to time.

Beautiful picture, Scott.
We received 3 inches of snow down here in Tennessee last night and you should hear them on the TV news. Everything is closed. Schools and businesses. My wife and I are originally from Calumet and we laugh when they get snow.

Very pretty scene indeed. Looks like you have a scenic view regardless of what it is doing outside. I like the icicles.

Where in Fulton was this picture taken? I was born & raised in Fulton. Lived at 421 Seneca Street Across from Bartanens candy store.

Who remembers when Candy Store had a pool table-I do. It was a great stop when I was a kid. We lived on Horseshoe Bend for a while in the early 50's.

searched the net for this but no luck.
Question for yoopers. Are you required to
carry tire chains for winter driving UP
there. Planning a trip UP in the next few weeks

By Allison, Hancock MI on Wednesday, February 6, 2002 - 11:55 pm:

to answer *wondering in Indiana* no tire chains are required in the U.P.~
Actually the winter has been quite light on the snow this year..Most years the snow is many many feet high~ So its been a nice break from the pounding of the blizzards this year~ But who knows this is the U.P. we still have alot of winter left : )

By Barb on Thursday, February 7, 2002 - 02:06 am:

To "wondering" - chains are not required and are actually illegal on most roads and highways.

Whattaya do when your power brakes and steering stop working and you're coasting towards a Jackpine? I tried that on the way to Calumet Waterworks one time. Time for Armstrong Steering and Swamper-Dragging brakes.

I remember when I stayed at my Grandparents, Bill and Ellen Luokkanen, and would walk to the Fulton Apostolic Luthern Church for Sunday school. It was hard not to stop in Bartanens and spend the money I had for the collection pot on candy.
Actually, some mornings I think we did.
