Blinding sunshine was abundant in the Copper Country today, and especially striking along those trails which wind through the woods all the way from the Lift Bridge to the point at Copper Harbor. This particular stretch not far from Cliffview and Vansville is well known to our family, because it's where the kids first ventured out on our snowmobiles years ago.

We've not done any sledding this year, and I miss those times of exploration and excitement with discovery around each turn. The kids are all grown up now, and with the snowless start to winter this year, we haven't even gotten them out of the garage. Know anybody looking for a good RXL or a Yamaha (not quite as good)?

Hey, if you've considered a trip to the Keweenaw, now's the time to come on up. And if you hurry, you can make it in time for the snow sculptures this week at Tech.

And if you can't make it... stay tuned.

Oh yeah!!! That will be us all of next week riding those sleds!

I spent some time at the Air Force station near Gratiot Lake in the 50s, wonder if you might have some pictures of the old site or the surrounding area. We had 254 inches of snow the first winter I was there. We lived in Houghton at the time so passed this area daily. I certainly enjoy my daily vist to Pasty Cam. Keep up the good work.

LOL been there done that now live on the desert of arizona and love to look way up on top of the mountains and see the snow.And its 60s to 70s down here..Beautiful pics. but would not want to walk work or play in the cold and snow anymore..Lazy from arizona

Lazy, we agree with you! We live in AZ too. BUT have to admit, the pictures on here sure make a person homesick for 'up home'. Keep up the good work Charlie.

Same here in Calif. Snow looks good on the mountains and if you need to play in it you can be in serious snow in about 5 hours. I thought I knew about snow and storms when we got here 22 years ago. One storm in the Sierra that year dropped 15 feet total. It was coming down at 2 feet per hour at one point. Whew!
