Last week
Your recent photo of the young women exposed to the elements at the Winter Festival -- I can't even pronounce the Finnish name, let alone spell it -- brought to mind this photo of three sisters taken in the 1920's at Cedarville in the eastern U.P. Isabelle, Lydia, and Phyllis Dunn. I think U.P. women are tougher than the average bear... prettier too.

Absolutely scandalous! I'm surprised their mother didn't tear up this picture. But I'm glad she didn't. From what I've been told, my grandmother would have fit in well with this trio.

I'm not sure of the exact location, but it was probably on South Meridian, close to Islington Rd., looking northeast towards the channel and downtown metropolitan Cedarville :)

This is so cool! It's amazing to think about different world these 8 experienced, yet fun is fun, and some things don't change.

To JimR
You're so right. Sometimes you look at a person and all you see is an old man or woman. If you had any idea what they might have been up to as a young man or woman, it'd knock your socks off.
The young lady on the left, Isabelle, took up water skiing at the age of 70--after a life of snow skiing--the middle young lady, now 90, still swims everyday and can tell some rip-snorting tales about life with her brothers and sisters. None of them has ever lost a sense of fun.

Hey dad, neat picture. I recognized grandma but not the other two. Are you sure that's Aunt Lid and Phil? Yeah Lid can tell some stories, she went on for 2 or 3 hours when Marielle and I were there. I was just mentioning her to someone today, about how she could remember things from so long ago. send in more photos, it's ahoot to see them, Love Yah Matt
