Capturing the nightime scenery of the Copper Country is a challenge which Pasty Camist first-class Jonathan Hopper has pursued recently. This view down Sixth Street reveals the bustling night-life and brings a chill.

Tomorrow night (Saturday, Dec 23) should see a bit more activity in this spot, as the Charles Hart Family Singers will appear on the historic stage inside. The concert is free, I believe it starts at 7pm.

seeing this photo remainds me of snowmobiling up to calumet on those blustery friday nights during college. too bad i am stuck in north carolina right not, but i still check the pictures everyday. that doesn't change. keep up the great work!

I look forward to the day I can live in Calumet and see the snow etc. that yoopers have to deal with. It won't be for awhile yet but nevertheless I can't wait!

I have had the good fortune in my life to perform on the stage of this great theatre. First in high school as part of two different honors bands, and then in college with the Michigan Tech Wind Symphony. There is no other theatre like this in the entire U.P.

I grew up in Laurium but now I live in Orlando. I worked at the calumet theatre for 5 years. I worked on the lighting and audio for most of the shows that pasted over it's stage. I now do the same thing at Universal studios Florida. Seeing this picture brings back a lot of memories.

I really enjoyed looking at your pictures on the web site.My Grandma lived in Lake Linden for 30 yrs.my mom, and rest of my family live in Okla.My parents,brothers,sister and myself were all born in Mich.My husband and I visited the upper country in 1993.

A place I never wanted to go to is now a place that I just can't forget about. My 6 years going to school in the UP has left me with some of the warmest memories, the people, the places, and the way time just seems to stand still. I remember being in a play at the Calumet Theater circa 1987 I think. The local Calumet Players were looking for a few extras for My Fair Lady and for extra credit in an elective class I was there. To this day I will never forget the feeling the last time the curtains went down.

Pictures like this make me wish that I could come back. But I'm afraid that I'll need to wait until retirement for that. My wife doesn't believe it when I tell her that our UP is very similar to where she lived in Russia. I will introduce her to the UP this summer.

I remember walking past the Theatre to the Calumet Armory to skate on nights like this back in the '50's. Carol, Sue and I had to bundle up to stay warm but it was a lot of fun and we couldn't miss a night of skating! We walked from Centennial Heights.
