The snow has hardly let up this week. But we understand things are rough all over. I spoke to a lady in Orlando this morning who reported 28 degrees. But I bet they don't have about 40 inches of snow on the ground.

This beast smooths out that snow on the miles of trails around the Keweenaw. A sledder's dream come true.

If you ordered pasties for Christmas, we hope you won't be disappointed because of the weather between us and you. Just to let you know, lab testing has shown the pasties to remain fresh in our packaging (even at room temperature) for up to four days. But if they haven't arrived by Saturday... we'll have to try again in the new year.

Hey, my Silver Bear snow scoop has been nice to have here in the lower peninsula. My neighbor even borrowed it for last week's storm. Glad he gave it back.

I don't really miss the snow I grew up with in Laurium. We are getting a little taste of it this year, though. My neighbors are even buying snow throwers. I'm talking about the little ones that aren't self-propelled and wouldn't stand a chance against a Keweenaw storm. Just a few folks have self-propelled models like we had in the UP.

Municipalities just don't have the plow equipment here to take care of storms like they do back there. Don't usually get enough snow to justify the cost.

I just got my Silver Bear snow scoop earlier this week. Nobody knows what they are down here. I've only managed to use it for a few minutes the other evening but that was many minutes worth if using a snow shovel. My plan is to put it through its paces this weekend. It will be nice to have. Still can't justify a snow blower for down here.

I do miss the snow from up there at Otter Lake (where I grew up). We ARE getting a pretty good taste of it this year. And yes, the townships don't know how to deal with the snow down here or have the equipment for it. We've had a plow only go down our street once so far and we're still a single lane wide.

Below zero and sunny this morning...ice fishing weather!

What is a "Silver Bear" snow scoop? I'm a curious Troll.
Thanks.

Yes, Poker, it's your old neighbor. That snoblower didn't even flinch. I heard about another one that ate half of a car, though.

Here's another free plug: MaryEllen, look at uppermichigan.com/silverbear

I bought a silver bear snow scoop and never get to use it because all the neighbors are borrowing it. I move snow about 10 times faster than with a shovel and it's even faster than with a snow blower.

Saul,NY
I just got my "snow-blower" aka Yooper Scooper this past week and I'm just waiting for it to snow. My husband got himself a new snow blower which I can't even try to start so I opted for my own version. I'm sure the neighbors will be looking at me like "what the heck is she using"....hopefully, the neighbors won't be borrowing my yooper scooper.
