You'll have to help me with this one. I've been scrolling back through some shots which Jonathan took, and came across this interesting view. He's at Tech tonight, and the hour is getting late, so I must publish the daily Cam without knowing its exact location. I do know it's in the Keweenaw (that narrows it down) but the scenery fits several possibilities. Hmmm...

Me thinks this is on the road to the Eagle Harbor Marina perhaps!!

DITTO ON THE ONIGAMING CLUB, NOW PRIVATE RETREAT

Eagle Harbor down the road that looks out at the harbor and across from the light house. But I think you already knew that.

By Jennifer on Friday, December 8, 2000 - 09:02 am:

It is absolutely the Eagle Harbor Yacht Club, located on Marina Road. There used to be a large green boat house here; it was torn down a few years ago. One "member" of the Club is Jim Boggio, Eagle Harbor resident.

Absolutely "Eagle Harbor" on the Marina Road

YUP on Eagle harbor!

By Lesley, Utah on Friday, December 8, 2000 - 12:01 pm:

I think it's Eagle Harbor, near the old location of NorthWind Books .... but it might be the west end of the old Onagaming. (and what a pity "old" is the adjective in front of both these locations!)

By jeff, MN on Friday, December 8, 2000 - 12:58 pm:

My initial gut response before scrolling down was the Onigaming(but was surprised to see the other nominations for it as I did). The land across the water doesn't look like Eagle Harbor unless one were perhaps looking to that shoreline just northeast of the mouth of Cedar Creek.
Please fill us in on this one now that you've got our curiosities up.

By Alice, California on Friday, December 8, 2000 - 01:56 pm:

Is the water the Portage canal? Is this not close to Chassell on the road to Houghton? As you see, I am not an real Yooper! Don't even know the names or landmarks properly. But love your site!

By DonziDan on Friday, December 8, 2000 - 03:42 pm:

I think it is in Loc La Belle. At the end of the road.

By Evelyn Hanrahan Texas on Friday, December 8, 2000 - 07:41 pm:

It is definitely the Eagle Harbor Marina, I walked there every AM during the month of Sept during our stay there, beautiful. I would like to be there to see it in it's winter veil.

Hmmmm.. could be Lake Medora?

By Charlie at Pasty Central on Saturday, December 9, 2000 - 02:33 am:

Thanks for all the responses to this shot. It certainly looks like it could be Lake Medora or the old Onagaming or Lac LaBelle... But it is in fact the Eagle Harbor Marina, as Evelyn, Lesley, Ed, Cathy, Jennifer, Mary, and R. Olson point out.

I am constantly amazed at the widespread interest in this region - all across the country and around the world. The Keweenaw has some kind of magic which stays in the hearts and minds of everyone who visits or lives here. We are honored to have this vehicle to bring you glimpses of the U.P. day after day.

We have had numerous requests to establish a Pasty Cam tour for other corners of the U.P., including Marquette, Sault Ste. Marie, Escanaba, St. Ignace, Iron Mountain and more. Do you know of anyone in other areas of the U.P. who could become a part of this visual journey? Requirements: a good digital camera, Internet access, and a burning desire to share the beauty and uniqueness of your U.P. town. Email me for technical details.

With the right team members, in addition to the Keweenaw Pasty Cam we could have the Marquette Pasty Cam, Eastern U.P. Pasty Cam, etc.

We're looking for a few good Yoopers!
