Brought the old trusty muzzle loader and some pasties and Trenary toast... it don't get no better than this. And after we trek thru the woods in search of some venison stew this weekend - just for fun we can make some more wood.

Then we can try out the new sauna (say it like: SOW-nuh) and roll around in the snow. Before we head home, let's cut up that birch into six inch pieces, bore a 1" hole in the center, stick in a candle, and sell em' on the Internet.

I'm out in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico and I still hit the Sauna every other night! No Trenary toast or anything that even remotely resembles a pasty, but this site keeps me going until I get back home. Thanks guys:)

Had pasties last week and took a sauna last night. Even tho I'm in northern Illinois, I enjoy 'living the dream'. I'm new to this web site and love to visit it every day. It brings back great memories of my mom (Helen Juntunen) and my aunt and uncle (Lepisto). Sorry, I'm not into hunting deer!

Dat dare place in da pitcher looks like a place dat we've camped at along the Traverse River out by Big Traverse. It was on the Gay-Lake Linden road. We called it da River Valley Mansion, even doe da heat was hard to regulate.

You guys are crackin' me up! Although I live in Boston now, I originally hail from South Range and Marquette. I check this site daily to keep in touch with home. I'll be out in Houghton over Christmas and maybe I'll pass you on the street.

I brought pasties to an office pot-luck this summer and they were a big hit. I still have to teach all these Massfolk how to pronounce "sauna" though. It's tough going, let me tell you.

Oh, I love it! Some of the names sound like people I heard my mom and dad talk about when I was a kid...Juntunen, Lepisto (Was he the surveyor?) and Jalmer and Emil. Wasn't there a Juntunen who worked for the Detroit Free Press? My uncle Armas Perskari also worked there. My grandpa was Emil Maki and my parents were Alma and Louis Perskari.

And Craig, I have to second trying to teach people how to say "sauna." They always want to correct our pronunciation! I also check this site every day. Makes me homesick, even though I didn't live in the UP beyond the age of 3. Just spent wonderful summers there.

Hello. I found this page by typing Perskari to a search site. My grandfather was Mattias Perskari. Whether he had any brothers I do not know as I came along many years after he died. One of the nicest people I ever met was T.J.Lepisto, who owned 3 or 4 Quality grocery stores in the Copper Country. I worked in the Lake Linden store while in High School. He was so nice!! I don't know what the T stands for but would guess it was Toivo.
