Looks like a colony of big rugged rocks with their babies. Thanks, Joan, for an excellent perspective of this notch in the shore between Munising and Marquette.

Reminds me of another cove, Cat Harbor here in the Keweenaw, which was captured during a day not as clear and sunny as this. If you look at the photo a few moments, you may even catch a glimpse of lightning.

How did you do that? Get the lightning to flash, I mean?

You guys are making it REAL HARD to decide which photo to make as wallpaper. Thanks a lot.

Nice animated .gif. That is a clever idea!

Living in Colorado for the last 23 years, I sure miss the reds of autumn in the Copper Country!! We have plenty of golds here in the mountains, but not much red. Thanks for the photo of Superior and the autumn colors.

Absolutely beautiful!

Beautiful shot, Joan
I had the same problem as Chris from Chicago - how to decide which picture to use as wallpaper when there are so many beautiful ones. I keep a record of the dates of my favorites so I can go back and put them up again. Thanks Pasty Cam!

Nice image,Joan. I can't place this spot exactly though, can you give me a little better location?
Thanks,

When will the pasty cam travel to little traverse bay???????? I love that area!!!!

By Joan Velde, IL on Thursday, October 19, 2000 - 09:50 pm:

Steve: To the best of my recollection, it's a bay somewhere between Au Train and Munising, MI. My husband and I had rented a cabin a mile west of Au Train, and when we'd drive between Au Train and Munising, I'd see this bay, and thought how beautiful it was. I didn't stop to photograph it until our last day there. I was anxious to have the foreground rocks in focus, and since I didn't have a tripod, I balanced the camera on a rock to get a good depth of field, and was very pleased with the results.
I met you, Steve, at the Eagle Harbor Art Fair this past August, visited with you a little, and bought some of your photo cards. I love your work.
I too feel that there have been some outstanding photos on the PastyCam this year. If you make a calendar again, it should be a gorgeous one!

P.S. Charlie: I like your analogy of the big rugged rocks with their babies!

We think your photos are very majestic and peacful. You really have a way of capturing the essence of the Upper Pennisula. The colors, the textures, the moods...they are all great.

Joan: Was the cabin at Kimar's Resort? That's our
charter choice for top-notch deep-sea fishing. Great area around AuTrain. Beautiful photo.

By Joan, IL on Friday, October 20, 2000 - 09:09 am:

Joseph: No, it was a privately owned A-frame that's available to rent, called Seacoast Cottage. Yes, it is a nice area, and close to both Munising and Marquette.

As an artist and nature lover, this pic says it all for me this week on the Pasty Cam website. Stunning and yet soooo peaceful, I can almost feel the breeze and hear the waves. Can I have permission to paint from your photo?
Signed stuck in the middle of da mitten!

Stuck in da middle: Go ahead and paint away. I'm pleased with your perception of my photo. Thanks.

Thank you for reminding me of my beautiful "home" state. South Carolina is beautiful also but it's not the same as Michigan..home is where the heart is!
